Use subscriptions in Apple News
You can read premium stories from select channels by subscribing in the News app or by accessing a subscription that you previously purchased from that channel's publisher.
Subscribe to a publisher
- Tap or click a premium story from a channel that you want to subscribe to. You'll see the word Subscription or a subscription message on these stories.
- Tap or click Subscribe Now or tap or click your preferred subscription period. You might be asked to sign in with your Apple ID. Make sure that you're signed in with the Apple ID that you use for the iTunes Store.
- When asked, confirm your subscription.
- The channel's publisher might request your personal information. (This is an optional step.)
- After you confirm and optionally enter your personal information, your subscription becomes active. You can now read premium stories available from this channel.
All subscriptions are auto-renewing. Some subscriptions might offer a discounted or free trial period before automatically renewing at their regular price.
If you already subscribe in a publisher’s app
News automatically checks your Apple ID for active subscriptions purchased as an in-app subscription in a publisher's app.
If any of your purchased subscriptions are also available in News, you automatically get access to that channel in the app.
Access your premium stories
After you subscribe to a channel, its premium stories appear in the Today feed and throughout News. If you want to see all of the premium stories available for that channel in News, tap Channels, then tap the channel on your iPhone or iPod touch, or tap or click the channel in the sidebar on your iPad or Mac.
Subscriptions that you purchase in News might also give you access to premium stories in the publisher's iOS app or on the publisher's website.
If a publisher offers access to premium stories in their iPhone or iPad app you can get full access by downloading the app and then restoring purchases.
If a publisher offers access to premium stories on their website Apple News indicates that on the Subscribe Now screen, or the publisher might ask for your email address so that they can give you web access. If you choose to share your email address, the publisher should follow up and tell you how to register for web access. If you have any problems setting up web access, contact the publisher.
To access your subscriptions on all of your devices, make sure that you're signed in to all of your devices with the Apple ID that you use with the iTunes Store.
Access a subscription purchased on a publication's website
If you purchase a subscription directly from a publisher's website, the publisher might allow you to sign in to your account in News and access your subscription in the app. While viewing a channel, tap or click a premium story. You'll see the word Subscription or a subscription message on these stories. Tap or click Already a Subscriber, then sign in with your user name and password for the publisher's website.
If you have issues signing in, contact the publisher.
To access your subscriptions on all of your devices, make sure that you're signed in to all of your devices with the Apple ID that you use with iCloud and the iTunes Store.
Cancel your subscription
If you subscribed through a publisher's website, try to change or cancel the subscription on their website, or contact the publisher. Learn what to do if you're not sure if you signed up through Apple News or a third party.
