Follow news channels and topics to read top stories in your Today feed.


Follow a channel or topic

You can follow channels and topics that you want to appear in your Today feed.

On your iPhone

  1. To Browse or search for a channel or topic, tap the Following tab at the bottom of your screen. 
  2. Select the channel or topic that you want to follow. 
  3. Tap the Follow button .

On your iPad or Mac

Browse or search for a channel or topic in the sidebar. Select the Follow button next to the channel or topic that you want to follow.

 


Favorite a followed channel or topic

You can add up to eight channels or topics to your Favorites.

On your iPhone or iPad

  1. On your iPhone, go to the Following tab. On your iPad, open the sidebar.
  2. Select Edit at the top of the screen.
  3. Next to the channel or topic, tap the Favorites button .

You can find all of your Favorites in the Today feed on your iPhone or in the sidebar on your iPad.

On your Mac

In the sidebar, find the channel or topic that you want to add. Control-click the channel or topic, then select Add to Favorites.

You can find all of your Favorites in the sidebar on your Mac.


Unfollow a channel or topic

If you're following a channel or topic that you're no longer interested in, you can unfollow it.

Stories related to the channels and topics that you've unfollowed might still appear in your Today feed.

On your iPhone

  1. Tap the Following tab.
  2. Tap Edit in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap the Remove button  next to a channel or topic, then tap Unfollow.

On your iPad

  1. Tap the Sidebar button .
  2. Tap Edit in the top of the sidebar.
  3. Tap the Remove button  next to a channel or topic, then select Unfollow.

On your Mac

  1. Select the Sidebar button .
  2. Under Following, choose a channel or topic.
  3. From the File menu at the top of the screen, select Unfollow Channel.

Get only the news that you follow

To have only the channels that you follow appear in your Today feed and topic feed, turn on Restrict Stories in Today.

On your iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Settings app. 
  2. Scroll down and select News.
  3. Select Restrict Stories in Today.

On your Mac

From the menu bar choose News > Settings, then select "Restrict stories in Today."


Tell News what you want to read

  • Want to see similar stories in Today like the one that you're currently reading? As you read a story, select Suggest More .
  • You can also tell the News app the types of stories that you don't like so that they don't appear as often in Today. In a story, select Suggest Less .
  • You can also report a concern about an Apple News story.
