About automatic downloads
After you follow a magazine, new issues of the magazine automatically download to your iOS device as long as you're connected to Wi-Fi and have enough storage space on your device. Issues don't download automatically on Mac.
If you see a Download icon under an issue, it's not downloaded to your device. To download an issue manually, follow the steps below.
Download issues manually
- Open the News app.
- On your iPhone or iPod touch: Tap News+ at the bottom of the app. On your iPad or Mac: Tap or click News+ in the sidebar of the app. If you don't see the sidebar, tap or click the Sidebar icon .
- Find the issue that you want to download.
- Tap or click the Download icon below the cover to download the issue to your device.
You can also download back issues from a magazine's channel feed. Use Search to find the channel feed, find the issue that you want to download, then tap or click the Download icon below the cover.
Read downloaded magazines
When you want to read a downloaded magazine, find it in My Magazines in the News+ feed or search for the magazine in Following.
About downloads and device storage
You can't delete an issue that you download to your device. New issues of magazines that you follow automatically download to your iOS device when you're connected to Wi-Fi (and have enough storage space). Automatically downloaded issues delete themselves after 30 days or sooner if storage space is limited. Manually downloaded issues won't delete unless storage space is limited.
