Download and delete magazines in Apple News

If you subscribe to Apple News+, you can download magazines to read offline in the News app.

If you subscribe to Apple News+, you get access to hundreds of magazines, popular newspapers and premium digital publishers in the News app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac. You can also download issues of magazines to your devices to read when you're not connected to the Internet. In countries and regions with the Audio tab, the latest audio briefings and stories are downloaded automatically.

Download issues

After you've followed a magazine, new issues of the magazine are downloaded automatically to your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac* as long as your device is connected to the Internet and has enough storage space.

If you see  under an issue, it hasn't been downloaded to your device. To download an issue manually, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the News app.
  2. On your iPhone or iPod touch, tap News+ at the bottom of the app. On your iPad or Mac, go to the sidebar and tap or click News+. If you can't see the sidebar, tap or click the sidebar button .
  3. Find the issue you want to download.
  4. Tap or click the  below the cover.
  5. Tap or click Download Issue.

You can also download back issues from a magazine's channel feed. Just tap or click  below the issue you want to download, then choose Download Issue.

To see your downloaded issues, tap or Click Downloaded at the top of your News+ feed.

*On your Mac, the News app needs to be open in order for new issues of magazines to be downloaded automatically.

Delete issues

New issues of magazines you follow are downloaded automatically to your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac* when you're connected to Wi-Fi and have enough storage space. These issues delete themselves after 30 days, or earlier if storage space is limited.

You can also delete issues of magazines manually.

  1. Open the News app.
  2. On your iPhone or iPod touch, tap News+ at the bottom of the app. On your iPad or Mac, go to the sidebar and tap or click News+. If you can't see the sidebar, tap or click the sidebar button .
  3. Go to Downloaded, then tap or click the more button  under the issue you want to remove.
  4. Tap or click Remove.
  5. Tap or click Remove Download.

*On your Mac, the News app needs to be open in order for new issues of magazines to be downloaded automatically.
