About Custom Action Links in Apple Business Connect
Custom Action Links appear on Place Cards by adding a direct link to your brand’s website or preferred platform. Custom Action Links can be created in the Apple Business Connect portal and also using the Apple Business Connect API. These custom action links allow direct customer experiences within your brand’s website. Maps users can then access them at the top of your Place Card by tapping the Primary Action button or the More (ellipsis) button. These buttons might have names such as “Order” or “Tickets.”
Before you begin
Before you create any custom action links, review the following requirements:
For customers to access Custom Action Links from your Place Card on iPhone and iPad, their devices require iOS 17.4 or iPadOS 17.4, or later.
The unique URL of a custom action link can’t appear in more than one action type.
The unique URL of a custom action link can’t be an exact match of a Third-Party Partner action link URL.
Companies require approval from Apple before a custom action link can appear for customers. This process can take up to 3 business days.
Category actions for custom action links
Each category has several action types and you can create custom action links for one or more of them. For example, if your main category is restaurant, you may want to add custom action links to some of the following action types:
Menu
Reserve
Waitlist
Pickup
Delivery
There may also be category action types that you don’t want to contain a custom action link.
About the Primary Action
The Primary Action appears as a button to the right of the brand website button and to the left of the More (ellipsis) button. Before you add any custom action links, you can specify any action as the Primary Action. However, when you create your very first action that contains a custom action link, it automatically becomes your new Primary Action.
