Continuity feature support
Continuity features help users move seamlessly between their devices. For example, with Handoff, a user can start a message in Mail on their iPhone, then finish the message on their Mac by clicking the Mail app’s Handoff icon in the Dock.
When you support users with Continuity features, check device and operating system compatibility first. Next, ensure that users are signed in with the same Apple Account on all devices. Then perform a quick, feature-specific test such as Handoff or Universal Clipboard.
Finally, check with your organization’s network administrator and confirm the current network and security policies. Continuity features can also be restricted by device management and might not be available for security reasons.

Note: A device management service can configure these settings. For more information about your organization’s requirements and device policies, check with your device management administrator.
Apple Accounts and Continuity
When using Continuity features between devices signed in with an Apple Account, users must be signed in to the same Apple Account as the primary account on all devices, regardless of whether users have a Managed Apple Account or an unmanaged Apple Account.
To use Continuity features, devices need to have Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth turned on and meet system requirements. Users also need to sign in to the same Apple Account on all their devices.
Note: When users want to share content, they can use AirDrop without them or the person they’re sending to needing to sign in to an Apple Account. The recipient user is asked to accept the file. Users can receive video and audio content using Airplay Receiver from any nearby iPhone, iPad, or Mac on the same network without signing in to an Apple Account.
If Continuity features don’t function as expected
What to look for:
Devices don’t recognize each other when attempting to send a file or copy text.
Apple Pay doesn’t appear when attempting to continue payment from one device to another.
The Handoff icon on either iPhone, iPad, or Mac doesn’t appear.
What’s happening:
Devices might be locked or in Sleep Mode.
Devices might need to restart or reconnect.
Devices might not be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Bluetooth might not be turned on.
Steps to take:
Verify that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account.
Sign out of the Apple Account and sign in again.
Ensure that both devices are unlocked and awake.
Ensure that both devices are connected to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is turned on.
Keep the devices close together within the same proximity.
Check Handoff settings:
On iPhone or iPad go to Settings > General > AirPlay & Handoff.
On Mac go to System Settings > General > AirDrop & Handoff.
Check that the Continuity feature works with the devices and operating systems.
Restart both devices.
Check with your organization’s device management admin to verify device restrictions and policies for iCloud apps and features.
