Editing settings in Logic Pro for Mac
When Enable Complete Features is selected in Advanced settings, Editing settings are available:

Number of Undo Steps slider: Determines the number of undo steps.
Groove template edits immediately update all associated regions checkbox: Editing an original region also alters any quantization template derived from that region. When unselected, the groove template remains as created. This allows you to edit the region without affecting the quantization template.
Create new regions after splitting loops checkbox: Determines how Logic Pro handles the cutting of looped regions.
When selected, you can cut a region’s looped area (using the Scissors or Marquee tool, or Split by Playhead command). Logic Pro for Mac automatically creates regions after—and, if necessary, before—the cut, ensuring that these areas remain identical. This allows you to split looped regions without altering playback in the looped area.
When unselected, you can’t cut a region’s looped area. Cutting the looped region itself turns off the Loop setting in the Region inspector.
Select regions on track selection checkbox: Selecting a track selects all regions on the track lane, or regions within the cycle or autopunch area (if Cycle or Autopunch mode is on). When unselected, selecting a track does not select regions on the track lane. In this case:
Option-clicking the track header or associated channel strip continues to select the track and all associated regions.
Option-Shift-clicking adds the selected track’s regions to the current selection.
Select tracks on region/marquee selection checkbox: Selecting a region or making a selection with the Marquee tool also selects the track and its assigned channel strip.
Selecting regions with the Pointer tool or Marquee tool selects or deselects tracks as you move vertically across track boundaries.
Right Mouse Button pop-up menu: Determines whether the right mouse button opens the Tool menu, displays an additional Right-click Tool menu, or opens a shortcut menu.
Is Assignable to a Tool: Displays a third Tool menu (Right-click Tool menu) to the right of the Left-click and Command-click Tool menus. Choose the appropriate menu item to assign to the tool, which is available when the right mouse button is pressed while editing.
Opens Tool Menu: Opens the Tool menu with the Pointer tool (and not the currently selected tool) located under the pointer. Simply choose the tool you want by clicking it. When the Tool menu is open, you can also use the key shown next to a tool to select it.
Opens Shortcut Menu: Displays a menu that offers a number of area-specific selection and editing commands.
Opens Tool and Shortcut Menu: Opens both the Tool and shortcut menus.
Enable Force Touch trackpad checkbox: When selected, you can use a Force Touch trackpad to perform functions by force clicking or tapping with three fingers. The haptic feedback lets you feel a light vibration when you drag items across a specific point.
Important: In System Settings > Trackpad > Point & Click, you need to set the “Force Click and haptic feedback” switch to on, and from the “Look up & data detectors” pop-up menu, select one of two options:
Force Click with One Finger: Press firmly on the trackpad until you feel a deeper click.
Tap with Three Fingers: Use three fingers to tap the trackpad.
You can use Force Touch for the following actions:
To create an empty MIDI, pattern, or Session Player region, force click an empty area in the track lane of a software instrument track that has its Default Region Type parameter set to MIDI, Pattern, or Session Player, respectively.
To add an audio file, force click an empty area in the track lane of an audio track.
To add a note in the Piano Roll Editor or Score Editor, force click the point in the working area where you want to add the note.
To delete a note in the Piano Roll Editor or Score Editor, force click that note.
To add automation points at region borders, force click the automation area of a region.
To open the New Track dialog, force click the area below the last track header.
You can feel a vibration (haptic feedback) from your Force Touch trackpad when you do the following:
Move a Volume slider or Volume fader to the 0 dB position.
Move a Pan knob to the center position.
Move a Send Level knob to the 0 dB position.
Fade tool click zones checkbox: Placing the pointer over the upper-left and upper-right edges of a region activates the Fade tool. You can still access the Loop pointer in these click zones by pressing and holding Option.
Marquee tool click zones checkbox: Placing the pointer over the lower half of a region (with the exception of the lower-left and lower-right edges) activates the Marquee tool. If Quick Swipe and Take Editing click zones are also enabled, placing the pointer over the middle third of a take region activates the Marquee tool.
Quick Swipe and Take Editing click zones checkbox: Placing the Quick Swipe pointer over the upper half of a take region activates the standard pointer. If Marquee Tool click zones are also enabled, placing the pointer over the upper third of a take region activates the standard pointer.
Limit Dragging to One Direction in: Piano Roll Editor and Score Editor checkbox: When selected, you can move notes only in one direction when editing in the Piano Roll or Score Editor. This means that a note may be either transposed or moved in time, but not both at once.
Note: Press Shift while dragging in the editor to quickly switch between the two behaviors.
Limit Dragging to One Direction in: Tracks area checkbox: When selected, you can move regions (including folders) only in one direction in the Tracks area. This is similar to the previous option.
Note: Press Shift while dragging in the Tracks area to quickly switch between the two behaviors.
Double-Clicking a MIDI Region Opens pop-up menu: Determines which editor opens when you double-click a MIDI region in the Tracks area.
Score Editor: Opens the Score Editor.
Event List: Opens the Event List.
Piano Roll Editor: Opens the Piano Roll Editor.
Piano Roll Editor: Region border trimming checkbox: When selected, region boundaries can be adjusted in the Piano Roll Editor.
