MDM restrictions overview for Apple devices
Restrictions can be enabled, or in some cases disabled, to prevent users from accessing a specific app, service or function of an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV that’s enrolled in a mobile device management (MDM) solution. Restrictions are sent to devices in a restrictions payload, which is attached to a configuration profile. For example, a restriction can be enabled that prevents an iPhone or iPad from using the camera to take pictures or videos. Another restriction can be added to prevent FaceTime video and audio calls on iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.
To learn which MDM restrictions are supported for your devices, consult your MDM vendor’s documentation.
To set restrictions in Apple Configurator 2 and Profile Manager, see MDM overview for Apple devices. See the Apple Developer Restrictions web page for developer information.
Note: All the restriction tables are sorted by the newest restrictions at the top of each table. Your MDM solution may organise them differently.
