Block or allow access to Siri and Apple Intelligence features

You can choose whether your child can access Siri, which Siri version they have access to, and the capabilities they can use.

1. Open your child’s settings:

   • On iPhone or iPad: Go to the Settings app, tap Family, then tap your child’s name.

   • On Mac: Go to System Settings, click Family, then click your child’s name.

2. Tap or click Content & Privacy Restrictions, select Siri, then do any of the following:

• Decide whether your child can use Siri—including which version: Select Siri AI (Beta), Siri Classic, or Don’t Allow Siri.

  Siri AI (Beta) uses Apple Intelligence, including personal context understanding, onscreen awareness, and broad world knowledge, to help your child get things done quickly. It uses generative AI to provide answers that may not be suitable for all ages and isn’t available for children under 13. See Get started with Siri AI.

  You can choose Siri Classic, the version of Siri available on devices with Apple Intelligence, when Siri AI (Beta) isn’t turned on. Your child can use it to set timers, send messages, play music, control devices, and get answers using web content. They can also connect to ChatGPT if Extensions are allowed. See How to use Siri.

• Let Siri use web content to answer questions: Allow or block Web Content Search or Broad World Knowledge.

  With Siri AI (Beta), you can allow or block Broad World Knowledge, which is combined with your child’s personal context to give detailed, up-to-date, and relevant insights to your child’s questions. See Get started with Siri AI for more information on personal context and using Siri AI (Beta).

  When you choose Siri Classic, you can allow or block Web Content Search so that Siri can use the web to answer your child’s questions.

• Allow help writing with Siri, including Writing Tools: Allow or block Writing Assistance.

  These features can help your child compose a new draft (if using Siri AI (Beta)), proofread and rewrite documents, summarize text, and compose a fast email response with Smart Reply.   Tip: You may want to block this capability if you don’t want your child getting help with things like writing essays or papers for school.

• Allow AI-generated images in Image Playground and Genmoji, and Image Wand in Notes: Allow or block Image Creation or Realistic Images.

  With these features, your child can create original images based on text descriptions, photos, people from their photo library, and rough sketches. The recommended age for realistic images is 18 or older. See Create original images with Image Playground, Create your own emoji with Genmoji, and Use Image Wand.

  Note: Your child must be at least 13 years old or the minimum age required in their country or region to consent to use Image Playground.

• Allow help with complex math in Siri and Math Notes in Calculator and Notes: Allow or block Math Assistance.

  These features help your child draw diagrams, solve equations, assign variables, and plot graphs. Mathematical expressions are solved inline when your child writes or types an equal sign. See Enter formulas and equations in Notes and Solve math with Math Notes in Calculator.

  Tip: You may want to block this capability if you don’t want your child getting help with things like math homework.

• Reduce responses from Siri on sensitive topics: Allow or block Sensitive Topics.

  You can decide whether to reduce responses from Siri on sensitive topics that may not be appropriate for all ages.

• Control whether Siri displays explicit language, including in song and album titles: Allow or block Explicit Language.

• Allow ChatGPT to provide text and image capabilities: Allow or block Extensions. For more information, see Turn on ChatGPT.

  Note: Your child must be at least 13 years old or the minimum age required in their country to consent to use ChatGPT. The ChatGPT extension is available only in regions where the ChatGPT app and service are available.
