Pixelmator Pro tools

Pixelmator Pro has more than 40 tools for image editing, composition and layout, graphic design, digital painting, and illustration.

The quickest way to start using a tool is to select it from the Tools sidebar. If you don’t see a tool there, you may have to access it from a tool group, or add it to the Tools sidebar.

Basic tools

Tool	Description
Style	Add fills, strokes, and shadows to layers.
Arrange	Move, rotate, resize, or change the position of layers.
Color Adjustments	Access controls for basic photo editing.
Effects	Add visual effects to your document.
Crop	Crop and straighten images.
Color Picker	Sample colors from images.

Selection tools

Tool	Description
Rectangular Selection	Make rectangular selections.
Oval Selection	Make oval selections.
Free Selection	Draw freehand selections.
Magnetic Selection	Make selections that snap to object edges.
Quick Selection	Quickly select anything by drawing over it.
Color Selection	Select similarly colored areas in an image.

Painting tools

Tool	Description
Paint	Paint with a wide array of brushes.
Pixel Paint	Paint using square pixel blocks.
Color Fill	Fill an entire layer, or part of one with a solid color.
Erase	Erase part of an image with brushes.
Smart Erase	Erase similarly colored areas of an image.

Tool	Description
Repair	Remove small parts or entire objects from an image.
Clone	Copy one area of an image to another.
Sharpen	Sharpen part of an image.
Soften	Soften part of an image.
Smudge	Smudge part of an image like wet paint.
Lighten	Make part of an image lighter.
Darken	Make part of an image darker.
Saturate	Make color in part of an image more saturated.
Desaturate	Make color in part of an image less saturated.
Distort	Push and pull part of an image in any direction.
Bump	Make part of an image appear bulbous.
Pinch	Make part of an image appear to be squeezed.
Twirl	Rotate pixels in part of an image to look like a spiral.
