Add a control surface to Logic Pro for Mac
Some control surfaces such as Mackie Control are detected automatically when you open Logic Pro for Mac. You can add other devices that are not detected automatically using the Setup window. See the installation and setup information in the support materials for your particular device. Some devices may require different or additional steps, but in most cases you only need to select the name of the device you want to use with Logic Pro, then add it. When you add a control surface device, it is represented by an icon in the Device area of the Control Surface Setup window.
Note: All macOS computers support built-in MIDI Device Profiles (MDPs) and control surface plug-ins. macOS computers with Intel processors also support control surface plug-ins from manufacturers other than Apple. Refer to the device manufacturer’s support materials to see whether an MDP or plug-in is available.
Important: Logic Pro automatically recognizes MIDI controllers supported by Lua and displays them in the Control Surfaces Setup and Install windows. See Automatic assignment for USB MIDI controllers if you are using a Lua-supported keyboard or desktop controller.
