Create a new course in iTunes U for web
Using the iTunes U dashboard you can create the following types of courses:
In-session. In-session courses are courses taught in real time with calendar-based posts and assignments. You must provide specific start and end dates for the course.
Self-paced. Self-paced courses allow students to begin and end a course at any time. Your course outline provides the structure, allowing students to follow along at their own pace. You must provide a suggested duration for the course.
By default, all courses created in iTunes U are private. To make a course public, affiliated instructors must submit a request to their institution’s iTunes U Public Site Manager administrator, then the administrator must add the course to the institution’s iTunes U site.
Apple recommends creating no more than 500 courses per Apple ID. To optimize bandwidth and performance when you have an excessive number of courses, iTunes U might not display all your courses.
If you signed in using a Managed Apple ID, all courses you create are owned and ultimately controlled by the school or district associated with your Managed Apple ID.

When creating and editing course information, be sure to provide detailed metadata to make browsing and searching for courses easier for your students. The more detailed metadata you can provide the better the student’s experience. When students search for content, iOS and iTunes displays results that contain the text entered based on matches within specific fields, including name, institution, and description (iTunes only).
Note: To use all the materials from an existing course in a new course, Apple recommends you duplicate the existing course, then edit the course details. When duplicating a course, iTunes U creates a new course using the info pages, posts, and materials from the original course.
