Duplicate a course in iTunes U for web
As the owner of a course, you can choose Duplicate Course from the Settings pop-up menu in the dashboard to copy an existing self-paced course to either a new self-paced course or a new in-session course or to copy an existing in-session course to either a new in-session course or a new self-paced course.
When duplicating a course, iTunes U creates a new course using the info pages, posts, and materials from the original course. iTunes U does not copy over the student roster.
Duplicate a self-paced course
In iTunes U for web, click in the row for the course you want to duplicate.
Choose Duplicate Course, then enter the course name for the new course you are creating.
Do one of the following:
Select Self-Paced, use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys to specify the approximate amount of time, in weeks, you expect students to take to complete the course, then click Duplicate.
By default, iTunes U sets the number of weeks to the same number as the original course.
For any posts in the original course, iTunes U copies the original posts and immediately posts the information to your students.
Select In-Session, specify the start and end dates for your course, then click Duplicate.
By default, iTunes U sets the start date to today and calculates the end date based on the original course.
For any posts in the original course, iTunes U removes dates and copies the posts to the Posts | Drafts pane for you to review, edit, and select new dates before posting to your students. Posts in the Posts | Drafts pane are not visible to your students until you post them in the new course. Deselect Remove Dates for Assignments and Posts, if you want iTunes U to preserve the original posts and associated dates for the new in-session course.
iTunes U makes a duplicate of the original course. iTunes U does not copy over the student roster. The dashboard appears so you can begin customizing the new course.
Duplicate an in-session course
In iTunes U for web, click in the row for the course you want to duplicate.
Choose Duplicate Course, then enter the course name for the new course you are creating.
Do one of the following:
Select Self-Paced, use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys to specify the approximate amount of time, in weeks, you expect students to take to complete the course, then click Duplicate.
By default, iTunes U calculates the number of weeks based on the original course, rounded to the nearest week.
For any posts or announcements in the original course, iTunes U copies the posts or announcements to the Posts | Drafts pane for you to review and edit before posting. Posts in the Posts | Drafts pane are not visible to your students until you post them in the new course. In addition, because all posts in a self-paced course must be associated with a topic in your course outline, you cannot save or post announcements in the Posts | Drafts pane until you associate them with an outline topic in the new course. If the original in-session course did not contain an outline, you must create an outline before you can review and edit the posts or announcements in the new self-paced course.
Select In-Session, specify the start and end dates for your course, then click Duplicate.
By default, if the original course start date is today or in the future, iTunes U uses the same dates. If the original course start date is in the past, iTunes U sets the start date to today and calculates the end date based on the original course.
For any posts or announcements in the original course, iTunes U removes dates and copies the posts or announcements to the Posts | Drafts pane for you to review, edit, and select new dates before posting to your students. Posts in the Posts | Drafts pane are not visible to your students until you post them in the new course. Deselect Remove Dates for Assignments and Posts, if you want iTunes U to preserve the original posts or announcements and associated dates for the new in-session course.
