Use Camera settings on iPhone
Learn how to use Camera settings on your iPhone.
Align your shots
To display a grid on the camera screen that can help you straighten your shots, go to Settings > Camera, then turn on Grid.
After you take a photo, you can use the editing tools in the Photos app to align shots and adjust horizontal and vertical perspective. See Straighten and adjust perspective.
Preserve camera settings
You can preserve the last camera mode, filter, lighting, depth, and Live Photo settings you used so they’re not reset when you next open Camera.
Go to Settings
> Camera > Preserve Settings.
Turn on any of the following:
Camera Mode: Preserve the last camera mode you used, such as Video or Pano.
Creative Controls: Preserve the last settings you used for the filter, lighting option (on iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, and later), or depth control (on iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and later).
Exposure Adjustment: Preserve the exposure control setting (on iPhone 11 and later).
Apple ProRAW: Preserve the Apple ProRAW setting (on iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max).
Live Photo: Preserve the Live Photo setting.
Press volume up for Burst
On iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and later, you can press and hold the volume up button to take Burst shots. Go to Settings > Camera, then turn on Use Volume Up for Burst.
Mirror the front camera
To take a mirrored selfie that captures the shot as you see it in the camera frame, go to Settings > Camera, then turn on Mirror Front Camera (on iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and later) or Mirror Front Photos (iPhone X and earlier).
Adjust the shutter sound volume
Adjust the volume of the shutter sound using the volume buttons on the side of your iPhone. Or, when Camera is open, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center, then drag .
Mute the sound using the Ring/Silent switch on the side of your iPhone. (In some countries or regions, muting is disabled.)
Note: The camera shutter doesn’t make a sound when Live Photo is turned on.
Turn prioritize faster shooting off and on
On iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and later, the prioritize faster shooting setting modifies how images are processed so you can shoot even faster when the Shutter button is rapidly tapped.
Prioritize faster shooting is on by default. To turn off prioritize faster shooting, go to Settings > Camera, then turn off Prioritize Faster Shooting.
Turn scene detection off and on
On iPhone 12 models, the scene detection setting can identify objects in various scenes and automatically improve them.
Scene detection is on by default. To turn off scene detection, go to Settings > Camera, then turn off Scene Detection.
Turn lens correction off and on
On iPhone 12 models, the lens correction setting adjusts photos taken with the front camera or Ultra Wide camera for more natural-looking results.
Lens correction is on by default. To turn off lens correction, go to Settings > Camera, then turn off Lens Correction.
Turn view content outside the frame off and on
On iPhone 11 models and iPhone 12 models, the camera preview displays content outside the frame to show you what can be captured by using another lens in the camera system with a wider field of view. To turn off this display, go to Settings > Camera, then turn off View Outside the Frame.
