iCloud: Delete photos from My Photo Stream

Delete photos from My Photo Stream

When you delete photos from My Photo Stream, they are removed from:

  • The My Photo Stream album on iOS 8 devices when iCloud Photo Library is not turned on

  • Your photo library on iOS 8 devices when iCloud Photo Library is turned on

  • The My Photo Stream album on iOS 7 devices, Mac and Windows computers, and Apple TV

On your iOS 8 device when iCloud Photo Library is not enabled

  1. In the Photos app, tap Albums, then tap My Photo Stream.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Tap a photo.

    • Tap Select, then tap one or more photos.

  3. Tap , then tap Delete Photo or Delete [x] Photos.

On your iOS 8 device when iCloud Photo Library is turned on

  1. In the Photos app, tap Photos.

  2. In Moments view, do one of the following:

    • Tap a photo or video.

    • Tap Select, then tap one or more photos or videos.

  3. Tap , then tap Delete Photo or Delete Video.

Deleted photos and videos are placed in the Recently Deleted album, where they remain for 30 days. After that, items are permanently removed from all your devices set up for iCloud Photo Library.

You can recover items from the Recently Deleted album. You can also remove items from your device before the 30-day time period is up. For instructions, see Use iCloud Photo Library on your iOS device.

On your iOS 7 device

  1. In the Photos app, tap Albums, then tap My Photo Stream.

  2. Do either of the following:

    • Tap a photo.

    • Tap Select, then tap one or more photos.

  3. Tap , then tap Delete Photo or Delete [x] Photos.

On a Mac using Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture

On Apple TV

  1. Go to iCloud Photos.

  2. Select My Photo Stream, press the center button on your remote, then select a photo you want to delete.

  3. Hold down the center button on your remote, then choose Delete Photo.

    If you simply press the center button instead of holding it down, a full-screen image appears instead of the dialog where you can remove the image.

On a Windows computer

  1. Select iCloud Photos under Favorites in a folder window of File Explorer (Windows 8) or Windows Explorer (Windows 7), then double-click My Photo Stream.

  2. Right-click a photo you want to remove, then choose Delete from the menu that appears.
