Enter text and numbers in Numbers for iCloud
You can type text or numbers directly into table cells, copy and paste content from somewhere else, or let Numbers for iCloud complete patterns for you with autofill.
Add text or numbers
You can add any text or numbers to cells, then adjust the appearance or format as needed. For example, you can change the font size or style, or format numerical data as currency, percentages, and so on.
Select a table cell, then type.
To change the appearance or format of the cell’s contents, select the contents, then do any of the following:
Change the font, text style, or alignment: Click Cell at the top of the Format sidebar on the right, then make your choices.
Change the format of numerical data: Click Data at the top of the Format sidebar on the right, click the Data Format pop-up menu, then choose an option.
To move to the adjacent cells, use the arrow keys on the keyboard. Use the Tab key to move one cell to the right.
Copy and paste cell contents
When you copy content from a range of cells, you can select a single cell as the paste destination, and the pasted content fills the same number of cells in the new location. When you select multiple cells as the paste destination, the content fills those cells.
Select a cell or range of cells you want to copy, then do one of the following:
On a Mac: Press Command-C.
On a Windows computer: Press Control-C.
Select a cell or cells where you want to paste the content, then do one of the following:
On a Mac: Press Command-V.
On a Windows computer: Press Control-V.
Auto-fill adjacent cells
You can quickly fill a row or column with a logical sequence of data, for example, a series of digits, dates, or letters.
Enter the first two items in the series in the first two cells of the row or column you want to fill.
For example, enter A and B or January 1 and January 2 in the first two cells.
Select the two cells, then drag the small circle at the bottom-right of the selection along the row or column where you want the sequence to continue.
