Autonomous Single App Mode MDM payload settings for Mac
You can set an app to control a Mac enrolled in a mobile device management (MDM) solution by using the Autonomous Single App Mode payload.
You must contact the app developer and obtain the information required to generate an appropriate Autonomous Single App Mode payload for the app. Installing such a payload on a Mac grants that app low-level access to the system—which includes, but isn’t limited to, installing systemwide monitoring capabilities.
For information about the App Lock payload for iPhone and iPad devices, see App Lock MDM payload settings.
The Autonomous Single App Mode payload supports the following. For more information, see Payload information.
Supported approval method: Requires user approval.
Supported payload identifier: com.apple.asam
Supported operating systems and channels: macOS device.
Supported enrollment methods: Device Enrollment, Automated Device Enrollment.
Duplicates allowed: False—only one Autonomous Single App Mode payload can be delivered to a device.
Note: Each MDM vendor implements these settings differently. To learn how various Autonomous Single App Mode settings are applied to your devices, consult your MDM vendor’s documentation.
