iPhone 18 Pro Logic Board (mmWave Antenna)

Before You Begin

Warning

Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Crosshead 44 mm half-moon bit

  • ESD-safe tweezers

  • Nylon probe (black stick)

  • Torque driver (black, 0.35 kgf cm)

  • Torque driver (green, 0.45 kgf cm)

  • Trilobe 44 mm half-moon bit

Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.

Caution

This procedure requires System Configuration. After you’ve completed all removal and reassembly steps, follow the instructions to initiate System Configuration.

Removal

Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.

  1. Use a torque driver and the trilobe bit to remove three trilobe screws. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.

    • Remove one trilobe screw from the mmWave antenna connector cowling and two from the upper antenna 2 flex cable.

    • Important: Note the orientation of the grounding spring before you remove the screws.

    • Remove the mmWave antenna connector cowling and grounding spring and save them for reassembly.

    • Gently lift the end of the mmWave antenna flex cable off the connector.

    • Lift the ends of six flex cables (1-6) off the connectors.

    • Lift the end of the LiDAR flex cable off the connector and move it to the left.

    • Gently peel the antenna interconnect flex cable from the enclosure.

    • Slowly tilt the logic board as shown, moving the LiDAR flex cable and other flex cables out of the way as necessary.

      • Caution: Avoid pinching or touching the flex cables to other parts as you tilt the logic board.

  2. Use a torque driver and the crosshead bit to remove one crosshead screw from the back glass connector cowling. Remove the back glass connector cowling and save it for reassembly. Then complete the entire step.

    • Caution: The screw and cowling may fall into the enclosure. Ensure that you remove both before you continue.

    • Lift the end of the back glass flex cable off the connector on the back side of the logic board. Then place the logic board on a clean, flat surface.

Reassembly

  1. Hold the logic board at 90 degrees as shown. Press the end of the back glass flex cable to the connector on the back side of the logic board.

    • Position the back glass connector cowling over the end of the back glass flex cable. Hook the connector cowling over the end of the flex cable.

      • Caution: Ensure that the cowling tab is engaged before installing the screw.

    • Use the black torque driver and crosshead bit to install one new crosshead screw (923-15881) (M3) into the back glass connector cowling.

  2. Tilt the logic board into the enclosure, moving cables out of the way as necessary.

    • Caution: Ensure that the antenna interconnect flex cable connected to the logic board and the upper antenna flex cable are underneath the LiDAR flex cable.

  3. Press the end of the upper antenna flex cable to the enclosure.

  4. If you’re reinstalling the original logic board, apply new adhesive to the end of the antenna interconnect flex cable. If you’re installing a replacement logic board, peel the adhesive liner off the antenna interconnect flex cable. Press for 20 seconds to adhere the antenna interconnect flex cable to the enclosure.

  5. Press the end of the mmWave antenna flex cable to the connector on the end of the antenna interconnect flex cable.

  6. Press the ends of six flex cables (1-6) to the connectors.

  7. Ensure that all eight flex cables (1-8) are properly seated to their connectors.

  8. Position the mmWave antenna connector cowling over the end of the mmWave antenna flex cable. Use the black torque driver and trilobe bit to install one new trilobe screw (923-15908) (M4) into the cowling.

  9. Use the green torque driver and trilobe bit to install one new trilobe screw (923-15907) (M1).

  10. Position the grounding spring as shown. Then use the green torque driver and trilobe bit to install one new trilobe screw (923-15907) (M2).

    • Caution: Ensure that the grounding spring is positioned correctly before fully installing the screw.

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:

Caution

  • System Configuration is required if you’ve installed a replacement logic board. Disregard notifications about iPhone features on the Lock Screen until you complete configuration.

  • After you’ve completed all removal and reassembly steps, initiate System Configuration by putting the device into diagnostics mode. Tap Start Session and follow the onscreen prompts.

    • You’ll have one attempt to complete System Configuration. If the attempt is interrupted, canceled, or encounters an error, the device will display a message instructing you to contact the Self Service Repair Store team for assistance.
