Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
ESD-safe tweezers
Nitrile or lint-free gloves
Nylon probe (black stick)
Torque driver (gray, 0.55 kgf cm) (grounding spring replacement only)
Torque driver (green, 0.45 kgf cm) (grounding spring replacement only)
Torx Plus 4IP 25 mm bit
Trilobe 44 mm half-moon bit (grounding spring replacement only)
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Caution
Wear nitrile or lint-free gloves to prevent contamination of the camera lens.
Avoid touching the camera lenses, front camera grounding springs, or nearby parts.
Important
If you replace this part, it’s recommended to run Repair Assistant in order to finish the repair. Repair Assistant will be available on the device after you’ve completed all reassembly steps.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Use the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to remove three 4IP screws from the camera.
Lift the ends of the three camera flex cables (1-3) off the connectors.
Important: Don't separate the two stacked flex cables. Flex cable (3) is underneath flex cable (2).
Lift the camera out of the enclosure.
- Caution: Don’t lift the camera by the flex cables. Lift it out of the enclosure by one of the screw holes.
If you’re removing the camera for another repair, gently place the camera cap over the camera lenses as soon as you remove the camera from the enclosure.
Important: Covering the camera lenses is recommended to prevent contamination.
Reassembly

Remove the camera cap and inspect the lenses. Ensure that they're free of debris.
- Caution: If the camera cap on a replacement part is damaged or missing, order a new replacement part.
Inspect the three grounding springs. If a grounding spring is bent or damaged, complete the entire step before continuing to reassembly step 3. If the grounding springs are in the correct orientation and have no visible damage, skip to reassembly step 3.
Identify the correct orientation of the grounding spring that needs to be replaced. Use ESD-safe tweezers to hold the bent or damaged grounding spring. Then use a torque driver and trilobe bit to remove the trilobe screw from the damaged grounding spring.
Identify the replacement grounding spring and its location as listed below. Use ESD-safe tweezers to position the new grounding spring in the correct location. Then use the appropriate torque driver and trilobe bit to install a new trilobe screw (923-15915) into the grounding spring.
Near the lenses: grounding spring (923-15980), gray torque driver
Left: grounding spring (923-16001), green torque driver
Right: grounding spring (923-16000), green torque driver
Tilt the camera into the enclosure and lower it into position.
Important: Ensure that the top edge of the camera is aligned with the lip of the enclosure.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 28 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 4IP bit to partially install three new 4IP screws (F2-F4) in the order listed below. Then fully install the screws in the same order.

Press the ends of the three camera flex cables (1-3) to the connectors. Press evenly along the length of each connector.
Important
Don't separate the two stacked flex cables.
Ensure that all three flex cables are securely connected before continuing to the next step.
