iCloud: My Photo Stream in iCloud
With My Photo Stream, the photos you take with your iOS devices or import to your computers appear automatically on all of your devices. It’s a great way to get all your latest shots on all your personal devices.
Note: In some cases, My Photo Stream is not available for newly created accounts. See Keep photos up to date across devices with iCloud.
How it works
You can take a photo with your iOS device, or import photos from your digital camera to your iPad or your Mac or Windows computer. iCloud automatically pushes the photos to your other devices, over any available Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Up to 1,000 photos taken over the past 30 days are available in My Photo Stream.
The photos appear in My Photo Stream on these devices:
On your Mac: In Photos (when iCloud Photos is not turned on)
On your iOS device (iOS 8 or later): In Photos (when iCloud Photos is not turned on)
On your Apple TV: In Photos or iCloud Photos
On your Windows computer: In the Pictures Library
Note: When iCloud Photos and My Photo Stream are both turned on, recent photos are uploaded to iCloud and appear in All Photos in the Photos app on your iOS device (iOS 8.1 or later) or Mac (OS X 10.10.3 or later).
To conserve storage space, My Photo Stream stores your last 30 days of photos and lets you collect up to 1,000 on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Your Mac and Windows computers can automatically download and permanently keep every picture from My Photo Stream.
If you take photos with burst mode or image stabilization, only the photos you select as favorites when using burst mode, and the final composite image shot with image stabilization, are added to My Photo Stream. If you want all burst-mode photos uploaded to My Photo Stream and your iPhone has iOS 8 or later, do either of the following:
iOS 10.3 or later: Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos, then turn on Upload Burst Photos.
iOS 10.2 or earlier: Go to Settings > iCloud > Photos (or Settings > Photos & Camera), then turn on Upload Burst Photos.
Note: To prevent unintended or excessive use, My Photo Stream limits the number of photos that can be uploaded within a given hour, day, or month. See the Apple Support article My Photo Stream and Shared Albums limits.
