Recording project settings in Logic Pro for Mac
When Enable Complete Features is selected in Advanced settings, Recording project settings are available.

General
When the Count-in button in the control bar is turned on (key command Shift-K) and you start recording, the playback begins before the playhead position. When reaching the playhead position, Logic Pro switches to record mode. The duration of that period before beginning recording can be set in bars or beats (count-in) or in seconds (pre-roll). To hear the click, the Metronome button
must be turned on (key command K) and the Metronome project settings have to be configured accordingly. See Metronome project settings.
Count-in button: Select a specific number of bars or beats as the count-in duration preceding a recording. Selecting the button activates the Count-in pop-up menu next to it so you can select the bars or beats value.
Count-in pop-up menu: Choose the count-in duration in bars or beats that precede a recording when the Count-in button is turned on in the control bar.
None: The recording begins with no count-in.
x Bar: The recording begins with a count-in of between 1 Bar and 6 Bars.
x/4: The recording begins with a count-in of a number of beats indicated by the fraction.
Pre-roll button: Select a time duration preceding a recording. Selecting the button activates the Pre-roll slider next so that you can adjust the duration.
Pre-roll slider: Set the playback time (up to 60 seconds) before recording starts by typing a number, sliding the value up/down, or clicking the arrows.
Allow tempo change recording checkbox: Records all tempo changes made while in record mode.
Automatically colorize takes checkbox: Assigns a take folder the color chosen from the Color palette for the first take recording, but different colors for each of the following takes in that take folder. All colors used in a take folder are chosen from the same color row in the Color palette, advancing by a predefined number of columns after each take. The checkbox is dimmed if Region Color is set to As Track Color in the Tracks View settings.
MIDI
MIDI data reduction checkbox: Controller events are thinned out during recording, to reduce the data load on the MIDI bus during playback. This improves the timing of dense arrangements when using interfaces with only a few MIDI ports. The function actually reduces the duration of controller events, using an intelligent algorithm that retains the value at the end of a series of controller messages.
Automatically erase duplicates checkbox: When selected, playing or adding a note to a MIDI region, either through step recording or merging, at the same position, pitch, and MIDI channel as an existing note, deletes the previous note. For the purposes of this function, the same position is defined as two notes with the same quantized playback position if both notes have been quantized, or within 100 ticks if quantization is not being used.
Audio Recording Path
Folder field: The field displays the path to the folder used to record your project’s audio files. As a default, it shows Project to indicate that newly recorded audio files are saved inside your project. See Save Logic Pro for Mac projects.
Set button: Allows you to select or create a recording folder outside of the project.
Project button: Resets the recording path back to the project.
Recording Settings button: Opens the Recording Settings window. See Recording settings.
