About administering your Public Site Manager site
Apple created your iTunes U Public Site Manager site using the Apple ID you provided. As a site administrator you can manage, create, edit, and customize many aspects of your site. You can add courses, customize pages, and publish your content live for your users in the iTunes U catalog.
iTunes U uses the following to display your content:
A provider page
The provider page is your top-level, or main page welcoming your users to your site. By default, your provider page automatically:
Generates a feature box containing your top content
Generates a categories list linking to your categorized content and providing users a subject-based navigation method for discovering your content
Displays all the courses or materials featured in the specific feature box in a See All page (for example, all courses, what’s new)
While administering your site in iTunes U Public Site Manager, you can configure your provider page and then preview your provider page changes and compare them to your live, published provider page.
iTunes U courses
Courses include info (including an overview, instructor profile, and outline), posts (including assignments), and materials (for example, audio and video files). Using iTunes U, instructors can create and prepare content for a course by recording lectures, developing assignments, creating videos and podcasts, uploading Keynote presentations or other documents and handouts, and much more. Students can then access the course content (for example, lectures, books, documents, apps, web links, and other materials) through iTunes U on their iOS devices 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Category pages
Category pages, linked from your provider page, display groupings of courses associated with a particular predefined category. Instructors can assign predefined categories to help users browse content of interest to them within your site.
See All pages
See All pages, linked from your provider page, automatically display all the courses or materials featured in a specific feature box or all the courses in your Top Content feature box.
In addition, you can use:
Users to define additional users with Apple ID accounts who can access your site to help you administer your site or contribute content to your site.
Themes to create and edit multiple themes for your site.
Settings to update your settings and further customize your site.
Reports to review daily and weekly reporting information and export reporting details for your site.
More than one administrator or contributor can sign in at the same time to manage your site or add and edit content in your site. Apple recommends all users sign in with their own individual Apple ID account. If a user is idle for 20 minutes, iTunes U Public Site Manager automatically signs out the user. If you have trouble signing in to your site, wait at least 20 minutes and try again.
All iTunes U Public Site Manager communication emails are sent to the contact listed in Settings.
