Solve math in Notes on Apple Vision Pro
You can solve mathematical expressions or assign values to variables in equations—for example, when learning new concepts in class, day-to-day budgeting, planning an event, home remodeling, and more.
Note: Notes uses common mathematical symbols, the same operations as a scientific calculator, and digits from selected numeric systems and languages.
Enter equations to solve
Go to the Notes app
on your Apple Vision Pro.Tap to open a previous note, or tap
to start a new one.
Do any of the following:
Type a math expression, then type an equal sign.
Tap
, pinch and hold to write a math expression horizontally, then write an equal sign.
Tap
, pinch and hold to write a stack of numbers or variables, then draw a horizontal line below the numbers to add the numbers in the stack. Notes inserts or suggests the sum below the line. (Write a different symbol to the left of each digit if you don’t want the numbers to be added.)
Notes uses the standard order of operations in horizontal expressions. For example, multiplication is completed before addition and subtraction. Add parentheses around expressions that you want calculated first. When expressions are stacked vertically, Notes evaluates expressions from top to bottom.
Notes automatically converts any units and currency used in expressions. You can also mix different systems—for example, 42 meters + 143 feet.
Edit values
Go to the Notes app
on your Apple Vision Pro.Tap to open a previous note.
Do any of the following:
Erase the value of the constant, then enter or write a new value.
Tap the value of the constant, then drag the scrubber left and right to adjust the value.
Any equations using the updated values automatically show the new results.
Show results automatically or as suggestions
Go to the Notes app
on your Apple Vision Pro.Tap to open a previous note.
Tap
, tap Math Results, then do one of the following:
If you want answers inserted automatically: Choose Insert Results. Answers are inserted automatically when you type or write a solvable math problem.
If you want suggestions to appear: Choose Suggest Results. When you select a solvable math problem, an answer appears. Tap Solve (or tap the Space bar or Return key on the keyboard) to insert the answer.
