Organise notes in folders on iCloud.com
You can create folders to keep your notes organised. You can create your own folders, and Notes creates the following folders automatically:
All iCloud: shows notes from all folders except the Recently Deleted folder.
Notes: contains notes that you have not moved to folders you created or are not in the Recently Deleted folder.
Recently Deleted: contains notes you have deleted in the last 30 days.
Create a folder
Go to icloud.com/notes, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary).
Select New Folder at the bottom of the folder list.
If you’re on a phone or tablet and you don’t see the folder list, make sure the folder list is open.
Name the folder, then press Return or Enter.
Your folder appears alphabetically in the folder list.
Tip: You can also create a new folder in an existing folder. Select
next to the folder where you want to add a subfolder. (On a computer, hold your pointer over the folder until
appears.) Then choose New Folder.
Rename a folder
Go to icloud.com/notes, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary).
Select
next to the folder you want to rename. (On a computer, hold your pointer over the folder until
appears.)
If you’re on a phone or tablet and you don’t see the folder list, make sure the folder list is open.
Select Rename Folder, add a new name, then press Return or Enter.
Your folder appears alphabetically in the folder list.
Delete a folder
Go to icloud.com/notes, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary).
Select
next to the folder you want to delete. (On a computer, hold your pointer over the folder until
appears.)
If you’re on a phone or tablet and you don’t see the folder list, make sure the folder list is open.
Select Delete Folder.
Notes in the folder you delete are moved to the Recently Deleted folder, where they remain for 30 days. During that time you can still view and recover them. After 30 days, notes are permanently removed from iCloud.com and any Apple devices where you’re signed in to the same Apple Account. See Delete and recover notes on iCloud.com.
You cannot delete the All iCloud, Notes or Recently Deleted folders, but you can delete notes in them. If you delete all the notes in the Recently Deleted folder, it disappears until you delete more notes.
Move a folder or note from one folder to another
You need to be on a computer to move a folder or note.
Go to icloud.com/notes, then sign in to your Apple Account (if necessary).
Drag a note or folder to another folder.
When you move a note or folder to a new folder, the note automatically takes on the sharing permissions of that folder. For example, if you move a note to a shared folder, the note is then shared. If you move a note out of a shared folder, the note is no longer shared. See Share folders in Notes on iCloud.com.
You cannot move notes to the All iCloud folder.
Tip: To move a subfolder to the top level of the folder list, drag and drop the subfolder to the All iCloud folder.
