Access iWork documents on icloud.com

When you create an iWork document on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch) set up with iCloud, the document appears automatically on icloud.com/iwork and on your other iOS devices set up with iCloud. How you access or download documents stored on icloud.com from a Mac depends on which OS X version it has. If you have a Windows computer, you can download or drag a document to your computer from icloud.com/iwork.

From a Mac with OS X v10.8 installed

If your Mac has OS X v10.8 installed and is set up with iCloud, there’s a seamless integration between iCloud, your iOS devices, and your computer.

You can create a document in Keynote (requires v5.2 or later), Pages (requires v4.2 or later), or Numbers (requires v2.2 or later) on your computer and save it to iCloud, so the document is available immediately from any iOS device where iCloud is set up and where you have the Keynote, Pages, and Numbers apps installed. Changes you make to the document on your iOS device or your computer appear everywhere.

From a Mac with OS X v10.7.5 installed or a Windows computer

If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5 installed, or if you’re using a Windows computer, then to work on a document stored on icloud.com/iwork, you need to download it to your computer first.

Important:   You can’t download a document from icloud.com to your Mac or Windows computer until the document has been opened on an iOS device set up with iCloud.

  1. In iWork, click the button for the type of document (Keynote, Pages, or Numbers) you wish to download.

    If necessary, select the folder that contains the document.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Select a document and choose an option from the Download menu.

    • Select multiple documents to download, and choose Download document type from the Action pop-up menu .

      • On your Mac, Shift-click to select multiple adjacent documents or Command-click to select multiple nonadjacent documents.

      • On your Windows computer, Shift-click to select multiple adjacent documents or Control-click to select multiple nonadjacent documents.

      Note:   You can download a document in iWork ’09 (Keynote, Pages, and Numbers) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) file formats.

Drag a document from a Mac or Windows computer to icloud.com

If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5, or if you’re using a Windows computer, then after you edit a document you downloaded from icloud.com/iwork, you drag it back to icloud.com/iwork so that the document is updated on your iOS devices.

Note:   Make sure you’re uploading a supported file format. Supported file formats include Keynote ’09, Pages ’09, Numbers ’09, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, TXT, and CSV.

  1. In iWork, click the button for the type of document (Keynote, Pages, or Numbers) you wish to add to iCloud.

    If necessary, select the folder that contains the document.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Drag one or more documents from the desktop to the icloud.com window.

      • Drag the following document types to the Keynote application window: Keynote ’09 and Microsoft PowerPoint

      • Drag the following document types to the Pages application window: Pages ’09, Microsoft Word, and TXT

      • Drag the following document types to the Numbers application window: Numbers ’09, Excel, and CSV

    • Choose Upload document type from the Action pop-up menu , select one or more documents, then click Choose.

      The amount of data being uploaded and the estimated time remaining for the upload is displayed in the Uploading Document window.

Documents uploaded to iCloud from your computer are displayed as thumbnails with a generic Keynote, Pages, or Numbers application icon. Once you open a document on one of your iOS devices set up with iCloud, the document’s icon is updated on icloud.com.
