iCloud: Archive your contacts

Archive your contacts

To create an archive (copy) of your iCloud contacts, you can use Contacts on your Mac (or Address Book with OS X v10.7.5) and Microsoft Outlook on your Windows computer. Your computer must have the iCloud Contacts feature set up.

With the iCloud Contacts web app, you can also export all your contacts in a single vCard. For more information, see Export contact information as a vCard.

Archive the information in iCloud Contacts

Use Contacts or Address Book on your Mac, or Outlook on your Windows computer, to create an archive on your computer.

  • On a Mac with OS X v10.8 or later: In Contacts, click All Contacts at the top of the Groups list, select all contacts, then choose File > Export > Export vCard.

Contacts creates one vCard file (.vcf) containing all of the contacts. To export groups together with contacts in a Contacts archive file, choose File > Export > Contacts Archive.

  • On a Mac with OS X v10.7.5: In Address Book, click All Contacts at the top of the Groups list, select all contacts, then choose File > Export > Export vCard.

Address Book creates one vCard file (.vcf) containing all of the contacts. To export groups together with contacts in an Address Book archive file, choose File > Export > Address Book Archive.

  • On a Windows computer with Microsoft Outlook 2007 or later: For instructions, open the app’s help and search for “export.”
