Choose the default region type for software instrument tracks in Logic Pro for Mac
In Logic Pro, software instrument tracks have a default region type—MIDI, Session Player , or pattern. When you create a software instrument track, you can choose the default region type in the New Tracks dialog, and you can change it later in the Track inspector.
The default region type determines which editor opens when you tap the Editors button with the track selected, or which editor appears when the Editors area is open with an instrument track selected, but no region is selected. It also determines what type of region is created on the track by default using the Pencil tool.
Regardless of the default region type, an instrument track can contain any combination of MIDI, Session Player, and pattern regions.
