Save, name, and close documents in Pixelmator Pro on Mac
Save and name a document
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, with a document open, choose File > Save.
Enter a name for your document in the Save As field.
Click the Format pop-up menu, then choose a file format.
The default save format is Pixelmator Pro Document, which uses the PXD file format (the native Pixelmator Pro format).
Note: If you choose a format other than Pixelmator Pro Document, you can optionally save a sidecar file and choose an image-quality setting.
Rename a document
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, with a document open, do either of the following:
Click the filename in the Toolbar, then enter a new name and press Return.
Choose File > Rename, then enter a new name and press Return.
Save a copy of a document
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, with a document open, choose File > Duplicate.
A duplicate copy of your document opens in a new tab.

Close a document
In Pixelmator Pro for Mac, with a document open, do either of the following:
Close the document but keep Pixelmator Pro open: Press Command-W, enter a name for the image, then click Save.
Close the document and quit Pixelmator Pro: Choose Pixelmator Pro > Quit Pixelmator Pro, enter a name for the image, then click Save.
