Monitor your heart rate with Powerbeats Pro 2
Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds feature in-ear heart rate monitoring (HRM) sensors that provide accurate, real-time metrics to help you track your fitness goals. When you work out with Powerbeats Pro 2, you can share your heart rate data with Apple Fitness workouts, the Apple Health app, your favorite third-party workout apps, or with compatible gym equipment (such as elliptical machines and exercise bikes).
On iPhone, you can share heart rate data with Apple and third-party fitness apps, even if you’re connected to a different Apple device for audio. For example, if your Powerbeats Pro 2 are connected to Apple TV so you can watch your favorite show while working out, your iPhone still receives heart rate data. You can view your heart rate data directly in the fitness apps or in the Health app.
Note: To route heart rate data to your iPhone while listening to audio from Apple TV, you must be signed in to the same Apple Account on both devices, your iPhone must be updated to iOS 26 or later, and your Apple TV must be updated to tvOS 26 or later.

Get the best results with heart rate monitoring on Powerbeats Pro 2
To improve your Powerbeats Pro 2 heart rate monitoring accuracy, use the following guidelines:
Check the fit: If there isn’t good contact between the Powerbeats Pro 2 heart rate sensor and the skin of your ear, you may get a poor recording. See Ensure the best sound quality and heart rate monitoring accuracy on your Powerbeats Pro 2.
Note: The correct ear tip size for acoustic seal and heart rate recording may be different. Make sure you choose the correct size so that the heart rate sensors on Powerbeats Pro 2 have good contact with the skin of your ear. See Get the right fit with your Beats earphones.
Wear both earbuds: Although you can monitor your heart rate wearing only one earbud using your iPhone, wearing both earbuds may provide better accuracy.
Keep your Health app data up to date: Your data from the Health app
on your iPhone or iPad—such as your height, weight, gender, and age—together with heart rate and motion sensor data from Powerbeats Pro 2 is used to calculate how many calories you burn, and more. See the Apple Support article Use the Health app on your iPhone or iPad.
Clean your Beats: For the best heart rate experience, clean Powerbeats Pro 2 regularly. See the Apple Support article Clean your Powerbeats Pro 2.
Consider environmental factors: Cold weather can reduce blood flow in your ears, making it harder for the heart rate sensor to get accurate readings. If you’re exercising in the cold, for example, the skin perfusion in your ear might be too low for the heart rate sensor to get a reading.
Check for ear conditions or modifications: Earwax buildup, moisture, skin conditions, or piercings around your ear can interfere with the sensor’s contact with your skin. Metal jewelry from piercings may also affect sensor performance. If you have ear piercings near where your Powerbeats Pro 2 sit, try temporarily removing jewelry to see whether readings improve.
Account for individual differences: Skin blood flow (how much blood flows through your skin) varies significantly from person to person and can be affected by your environment and activity level. Blood flow in your ears changes based on these factors, which can impact sensor performance.
