Customize Transparency mode and turn on Conversation Boost for AirPods Pro
When you use AirPods Pro 1 or 2 to listen to audio in Transparency mode, you can still hear the world around you. On iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you can customize which sounds come through when you use Transparency mode. You can also turn off Loud Sound Reduction for Transparency and Adaptive modes, and turn on Conversation Boost to make it easier to hear in a face-to-face conversation.
Reduce the amount of ambient noise you hear in Transparency mode
When your AirPods Pro are connected to your device, you can reduce the amount of ambient noise you hear in Transparency mode.
Wear your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.
Do one of the following:
iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual > Headphone Accommodations, and make sure Headphone Accommodations is turned on. Tap Transparency Mode, turn on Custom Transparency Mode, then drag the Ambient Noise Reduction slider.
Mac: Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Accessibility in the sidebar. Click Audio, turn on Transparency Mode, then drag the Ambient Noise Reduction slider.
Use Conversation Boost
When your AirPods Pro are connected to your device, you can use Conversation Boost to focus on the person talking in front of you. This makes it easier to hear in a face-to-face conversation.
Wear your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.
Do one of the following:
iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual > Headphone Accommodations, and make sure Headphone Accommodations is turned on. Tap Transparency Mode, turn on Custom Transparency Mode, then turn on Conversation Boost.
Mac: Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Accessibility in the sidebar. Click Audio, turn on Transparency Mode, then turn on Conversation Boost.
Turn off Loud Sound Reduction in Transparency and Adaptive modes
AirPods Pro 2 automatically reduce your exposure to loud environmental noise when in Transparency and Adaptive modes, but you can turn off this setting.
Wear your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.
Do one of the following:
iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > Accessibility > AirPods, choose your AirPods, then tap Turn Off Loud Sound Reduction.
Mac: Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Accessibility in the sidebar. Click Audio, choose your AirPods, then click Turn Off next to Loud Sound Reduction.
