Mac Pro (Rack, 2023) Power Button with Status Indicator Light Board

Before You Begin

Remove the following parts before you begin:

Tools

  • Adjustable torque driver (10-34 Ncm)

  • Compressed air

  • Torx Plus 5IP 50 mm bit

Removal

  1. Lift the end of the power button flex cable off the connector.

  2. Use the 10-34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the six 5IP screws (923-03880) from the power button cowling. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

  3. Remove the power button board from the front plate.

  4. If you’re replacing the power button flex cable, lift the other end of the flex cable off the connector on the front input/output (I/O) board.

  5. Gently peel the power button flex cable off the housing. Then remove the flex cable.

    • Note: The image shows the power button flex cable attached to the connectors and the power button board installed. However, you must remove the power button board and disconnect the power button flex cable from both connectors before completing this step.

Reassembly

  1. Inspect the light tunnel. If debris is present, use compressed air to clear it.

  2. Position the power button board and the power button cowling.

  3. Set the torque value on the 10-34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 19 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to reinstall the six 5IP screws (923-03880) into the power button cowling.

  4. Press the end of the power button flex cable to the connector.

  5. If you replaced the power button flex cable, press the other end of the flex cable to the connector on the front I/O board.

    • Important: If you’re installing a replacement flex cable, remove the adhesive backing. Then gently press along the flex cable to adhere it to the housing.

Reinstall the following parts to complete reassembly:
