Removal

  1. Remove the protective cover from the front input/output (I/O) board.

  2. Use the 10-34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the two 5IP screws (923-03446) from the front I/O board connector cowling on the I/O board side. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

  3. Lift the three ends of the front I/O board flex cable off the connectors on the I/O board. Remove the flex cable and save it for reassembly.

  4. Lift the end of the power button flex cable off the connector on the front I/O board.

  5. Use the 10-34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the four 5IP screws (923-03445) from the front I/O board.

  6. Turn over the computer. Remove the protective cover from the bottom of the front I/O board.

  7. Use the 10-34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to remove the four 5IP screws (923-03457) from the antenna connector cowling. Remove the cowling and save it for reassembly.

  8. Use the antenna tool to lift the ends of the four antenna coaxial cables off the connectors on the front I/O board.

  9. Use the 10-34 Ncm adjustable torque driver and 3IP bit to remove the two 3IP screws (923-03447) from the antenna coaxial cable routing clips.

  10. Lift the end of the housing sensor flex cable off the connector on the front I/O board.

  11. Use the 0.3-1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to remove the three 8IP screws (923-03436) from the front I/O board bracket.

  12. Slightly lift the front I/O board bracket. Then gently remove the front I/O board from the front plate.

    • Caution: The antenna coaxial cables are attached to the sides of the front I/O board bracket. Don't damage the cables as you slightly lift the bracket away from the front plate.

Reassembly

  1. Slide the front I/O board under the front I/O board bracket. Align the screw holes on the bracket with the screw holes on the front plate.

  2. Use the 0.3-1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to partially reinstall the three 8IP screws (923-03436) into the front I/O board bracket.

  3. Set the torque value of the 10-34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 25 Ncm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and 5IP bit to reinstall the four 5IP screws (923-03445) into the front I/O board.

    • Caution: To avoid damaging the antenna coaxial cables, ensure that no cables are trapped between the front I/O board and front I/O board bracket before reinstalling the screws.

  4. Plug both ends of the USB-C charge cable into the ports to ensure front I/O board alignment. Adjust the alignment of the front I/O board until the ends of the cables are easy to insert and remove.

  5. Set the torque value of the 0.3-1.2 Nm adjustable torque driver to 0.5 Nm. Then use the adjustable torque driver and 8IP bit to fully reinstall the three 8IP screws into the front I/O board bracket.

  6. Unplug both ends of the USB-C charge cable.

  7. Press the end of the housing sensor flex cable to the connector on the front I/O board.
