Manage ad placement for your channel
Publishers that use Apple News Format (ANF) can advertise in their Apple News channels. See here for more details on Apple News Format.
After you have set up Apple News Format, you may manage dynamic ad placement with News Publisher. All advertising campaigns should be created via Workbench.
Manage dynamic ad placement for your channel
With ANF, you can choose how often ads can appear in your channel’s articles and set the default spacing between ads and article content. Changes will only apply for new or updated articles.
Go to icloud.com, sign in, then click News Publisher.
Click Settings, then click Advertising in the sidebar.
Under Dynamic Ad Placement, do the following:
Frequency — Select one of the following to configure the frequency of dynamic ads in your channel:
Off — Prevent ads from appearing in your channel’s articles. If this option is selected, all other fields under Dynamic Ad Placement will be disabled.

Bottom Margin — Select a value for the bottom margin. This is the amount of space (in points) that will appear below the ads. Specify the value in integers. Negative values aren’t supported. The maximum value is 999.
Distance from Media — Select the minimum distance required between ads and media. If you select 0, ads will be displayed next to media. The maximum value is 999. It’s recommended to use a value of around
10vh
(Viewport Height).Distance from Media Units — Choose Points or Viewport Height as the unit of measurement for Distance from Media.
Click Save to apply the settings.
Exclude ads for articles created in News Publisher
If you have dynamic ad placement enabled for your channel, you can disable ads for articles created in News Publisher by doing the following:
Go to icloud.com, sign in, then click News Publisher.
Click Articles, click a section in the sidebar, then open an existing article or create a new article.
Click the Publish menu, then deselect the “Allow ads in article” checkbox.
Note that the checkbox applies to ads you sell and, if backfill is turned on, also to ads sold by Apple.
Click Update or Publish.
Exclude ads for ANF articles using key-value pairs
To exclude ads from any of your articles, use key value pairs. In your article, set { "ads" : ["disableAds" ] } as a value in the campaignData metadata property. This will exclude direct sold, house, and backfill ads from serving into the article.
Use Workbench to manage ANF channel advertising
To manage advertising that appears in ANF-created articles, publishers use Workbench. Through Workbench you can:
Control your ad inventory in your Ad settings.
Create and manage campaigns.
Review campaign performance and backfill revenue reporting.
Note that only ANF channels and articles are eligible for advertising; RSS channels aren’t eligible.
