Control your wheelchair with Look to Drive on Apple Vision Pro
Look to Drive enables you to control a compatible powered wheelchair with your eyes—just look at a directional control to send a movement command to the wheelchair accessory. Guests can also use Look to Drive during a Guest User session.
Look to Drive works with a TOLT Technologies or LUCI wheelchair controller, and is only available for compatible wheelchair control systems in the U.S. and U.S. territories.
Important: Before you drive, make sure you can clearly see your surroundings. Look to Drive doesn’t replace your wheelchair’s standard controller; keep another way to operate your wheelchair available at all times. Use Look to Drive only in controlled environments, such as indoors or in a private patio or yard. Don’t use Look to Drive on roads, near traffic, or in areas with pedestrians or other hazards. An adult trusted supporter should be present and attentive during each session.

Before you begin
Make sure of the following:
Your Apple Vision Pro fits correctly and is calibrated. See Adjust the fit of your Apple Vision Pro.
You’re seated securely and positioned correctly in your wheelchair.
The Apple Vision Pro battery and power cable, and any other cables, are positioned so they don’t interfere with you, your wheelchair, or its controls. Don’t use Look to Drive while Apple Vision Pro is connected to wall power.
You and your trusted supporter both know how to stop your wheelchair in an emergency, and which control profile is active. See the instructions provided by your wheelchair controller manufacturer.
Set up Look to Drive
Connect a compatible wheelchair controller to Apple Vision Pro.
Refer to the instructions from your wheelchair controller manufacturer to connect a TOLT Technologies controller using the Developer Strap (USB-C), or a LUCI controller using Bluetooth.
Turn on Dwell Control, Switch Control, or AssistiveTouch.
To adjust settings, go to the Settings app
, tap Accessibility, tap Wheelchair, then do any of the following:Change where the driving controls appear: Under Control Buttons Row, select Top or Bottom.
Manage activity logs: Under Allow Logging, choose whether wheelchair control event logs should be kept for 1 hour, 24 hours, or never. Logs older than the selected duration are deleted automatically.
Look to Drive is not available when the Apple Vision Pro battery level is at 10 percent or below.
Start driving your wheelchair
Open the Dwell Control, Switch Control, or AssistiveTouch menu.
Select the wheelchair button
. (In AssistiveTouch, first add the wheelchair icon to your menu. See Set up AssistiveTouch.)Select Start, or select Cancel to dismiss the confirmation dialog.
Use the driving controls
Look at a directional control—Forward, Back, Left, Right, or a diagonal—to move your wheelchair in that direction.
Note: Because you can’t see behind you while driving, it’s best to turn around and move forward whenever possible, rather than driving backward.
To stop your wheelchair, look at a Stop control, look at Pause, look at Exit, or close your eyes for longer than a blink.
When you use Look to Drive, Apple Vision Pro only responds to your eye movements. (Pinching and other hand gestures don’t start, change, or stop wheelchair movement.)
WARNING: Look to Drive doesn’t automatically contact emergency services. If you experience an emergency, close your eyes to send a stop command to your wheelchair, then use your wheelchair’s standard controller and contact emergency services directly.
Adjust your seat position and speed
If your wheelchair uses a LUCI controller, look at the wheelchair icon in the top-right area of the overlay to open seat and speed controls, then do any of the following:
Adjust your seat: Look at the up or down arrows next to Tilt, Recline, Leg Rests, or Elevation.
Adjust your speed: Look at the plus or minus buttons next to Speed.
Return to driving controls: Look at
If your wheelchair uses a TOLT controller, look at the Mode button in the top-right area of the overlay to cycle through different modes on your wheelchair controller (your Apple Vision Pro notifies you when the wheelchair controller has cycled modes), then use the directional arrows on the Look to Drive overlay to make adjustments. To return to driving controls, cycle through modes until the driving controls appear.
Note: Look to Drive displays directional controls directly in front of your field of view at all times, even if your head is angled. Before you continue driving, make sure you can still clearly see your surroundings.
Pause or exit Look to Drive
To stop your wheelchair temporarily, look at Pause. Look at Pause again to resume driving.
To exit, look at Exit. Your wheelchair stops and the overlay closes. You can’t exit while paused; resume driving first.
Important: Exit Look to Drive before you are transferred into or out of your wheelchair, or before your wheelchair is moved while you are not seated.
Look to Drive automatically stops your wheelchair if Apple Vision Pro disconnects from your wheelchair controller, is removed from your head, drops below a 10 percent charge, loses power, or malfunctions.
