Change General preferences in Maps on Mac
In the Maps app on your Mac, use General preferences to customize the appearance of your maps.
To change these preferences, choose Maps > Preferences, then click General.
Always use light map appearance
Choose between light and dark mode. See Use a light or dark appearance on your Mac.
Choose between miles and kilometers.
Use Large Labels
Make labels easier to read.
Always Show Labels in [language]
Choose your language.
Show Weather Conditions
Include weather on your maps.
Show Air Quality Index (AQI)
Include air quality on your maps.
Always show Compass
Show the compass in the lower-right corner on your maps.
Always show Zoom Controls
Show the zoom-out and zoom-in buttons in the lower-right corner on your maps.
Ratings and Photos
Include extra details in information cards.
Show Ratings and Photos Suggestions
