Plan for migration to Apps and Books in Apple School Manager
To get started migrating, Content Managers with Volume Purchase Programme (VPP) accounts must migrate their licences to a location in Apps. For the best migration experience, organisations should map each purchaser to a unique location to ensure that all licences (assigned and unassigned) are moved automatically during the initial migration phase. It is recommended that you move all Content Managers at the same time. This can be done by each Content Manager, or by any user with the role of Administrator with access to all accounts.
After migration, licences are associated with their new location rather than with the purchaser’s legacy token. If a Content Manager migrates to a location that already contains licences, only their unassigned licences are moved to that location in the initial migration phase. (This process avoids any disruption to licence assignments in device management.) Assigned licences remain associated with the purchaser’s legacy token. After these licences are unassigned in device management, they can be moved to a location in the Apps section of Preferences.
If a Content Manager account has VPP credit associated with it, the credit remains associated with that purchaser. VPP credit is not transferred to the selected location. See Purchase VPP credit.
