Join a Family Sharing group in Family Sharing on Mac
You can join a Family Sharing group when the family organiser adds you or when you accept an invitation.
If you’re the family organiser, you can invite people to join when you add them to the family; see Manage a Family Sharing group on Mac.

Join on the family organiser’s Mac
If you’re nearby when the family organiser adds you to the family, you can join the family immediately by entering your Apple ID and password on the family organiser’s Mac, iOS or iPadOS device.
Before you can share family purchases, you must confirm the Apple ID you use for the iTunes Store, the App Store and Apple Books purchases that you want to share with your family.
On the family organiser’s Mac, iOS or iPadOS device, enter your Apple ID and password.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu
> System Preferences, then make sure you’re signed in to Apple ID. If you’re not signed in, click Sign In, and follow the onscreen directions to enter your Apple ID information.In System Preferences, click Family Sharing, click Accept, click Next to confirm this is the account you want to use for Family Sharing, then follow the onscreen instructions to confirm your Family Sharing setting.
Accept or decline an invitation on your Mac
On your Mac, choose Apple menu
> System Preferences, then click Family Sharing.Do one of the following:
Join the family: Click Accept, then follow the onscreen instructions.
Don’t join the family: Click Decline.
If you have an email invitation sent by the family organiser, you can click Get Started in the email, then follow the onscreen instructions.
After you join, family members receive an email informing them that they are now sharing with you.
