Check your iCloud Drive file and folder status on Mac
When you store files in iCloud Drive, you can view your folders and files in Finder. They may appear with a status icon, which indicates if they’re in iCloud, waiting to upload and more.
On your Mac, click
in the Dock to open a Finder window, then click iCloud Drive in the sidebar.
Choose View > as List.
Choose View > Show View Options, then select iCloud Status.
Tip: Even if the iCloud Status column isn’t in the Finder window, the status icon for most iCloud file transfers appears next to the folder or file name. The only icon that doesn’t appear is for downloaded items.
View any of the following:
In iCloud:
indicates that the folder or file is only in iCloud. You must be connected to the Internet to work with the item, unless you download it to your Mac. Control-click the file, then choose Download Now.
Ineligible:
indicates that the folder or file could not be stored in iCloud. This status is usually because the size exceeds the 50GB limit for an individual folder or file in iCloud Drive. To learn more about freeing up storage, see Optimise storage space.
Downloaded:
indicates that the folder or file is up to date between your Mac and iCloud and you can view or edit it immediately, with or without an internet connection.
Keep Downloaded:
indicates that the folder or file is kept downloaded on your Mac, even if it’s an older item and more storage space is needed. See Keep items downloaded.
Waiting to Upload:
indicates that the folder or file is not yet stored in iCloud.
Out of Space:
indicates that the folder or file can’t be stored in iCloud because there isn’t enough iCloud storage left.
A similar icon can also appear next to iCloud Drive in the sidebar, where it indicates that iCloud storage is full.
Pie chart:
changes gradually from clear to dark to indicate the progress of a file transfer.
The same pie chart can also appear next to iCloud Drive in the sidebar, where it indicates the overall progress for files transferring to and from iCloud Drive.
