Format text in documents with fonts on Mac
In many apps, you can format text you enter by selecting fonts, font colours, font sizes and more in the Fonts window.
If your Mac has a Touch Bar, you can use it to quickly format selected text.
In an app on your Mac, press Command-T. Or, depending on the app, choose Format > Show Fonts or Format > Font > Show Fonts.
If font sizes aren’t shown on the right side of the Fonts window, click the Action pop-up menu , choose Edit Sizes, then select Fixed List, Adjustable Slider or both.
To preview options as you select them, click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Show Preview.
Select the text you want to format, then do any of the following:
Change the font: Select a collection, typeface or style (such as Bold). To search for a font, select All Fonts in the Collection column, click , then type the font name in the search field.
Change the font size: Drag the slider or select a size in the list. To change the range of the slider or add font sizes to the list, click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Edit Sizes.
Change the font colour: Click the Text Colour colour well, then choose a colour in the Colours window. See Use colours in documents.
Underline or strike through text: Click the pop-up menu for Text Underline or Text Strikethrough, then choose an option, such as Double. To change the line colour, choose Colour from the pop-up menu, then choose a colour.
Insert emoji, characters and symbols: Click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Characters. See Use emoji and symbols.
Set typographic options: Click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Typography. If the selected font includes typography options, select or unselect them.
Use Font Book to install and manage fonts on your Mac. To open it from the Fonts window, click the Action pop-up menu , then choose Manage Fonts. See the Font Book User Guide.
To format selected text in uppercase, lowercase or mixed case, choose Edit > Transformations, then choose an option.
