Manage your Schoolwork classes, teachers, and students
To help you better manage Schoolwork classes, teachers, and students, follow the best practices outlined in this topic.
When Apple School Manager integrates with your organization’s Student Information System (SIS) and SFTP information, Apple automatically creates teacher and student Managed Apple Accounts for your organization. In addition, when teachers and students open Schoolwork, Schoolwork automatically populates the sidebar with all their Apple School Manager classes.
If your organization doesn’t integrate with SIS or SFTP information, teachers can request accounts to use with Schoolwork, then manually create student accounts and classes within Schoolwork.
Use mobile device management (MDM) to remotely distribute the Schoolwork app to teacher and student devices and automatically keep Schoolwork up to date.
Enable the Improving Schoolwork feature in Apple School Manager’s organization settings to allow Apple to process non-personally identifying Schoolwork data using techniques such as machine learning to improve the app. For example, Apple may process Schoolwork data to understand trends in usage, customize user experience, and develop new education features for the app. To ensure transparency, a notification appears on the screen the first time teachers and students open Schoolwork using their Managed Apple Account after Improving Schoolwork is enabled. For more information, contact your school’s IT administrator. See About privacy and security for Apple products in education.
Set up content caching on your network to reduce internet data usage and speed up Apple content downloads, including multimedia and activity files added to Schoolwork assignments. See Content types supported by content caching.
