Problems with assignments, activities, and notifications in Schoolwork
If you have trouble with assignments or you don’t see app activities or notifications in the Schoolwork app , try these suggestions.
If you have trouble posting an assignment, keep the following in mind:
Assignments can’t contain more than 20 activities.
Assignments can’t contain a file larger than 2 GB.
To assign your recently viewed activities to students from any device, confirm Sync App Activities is selected for progress-reporting apps (Go to Settings
> Class Progress, then tap Sync App Activities). When Sync App Activities is selected and you view activities, Schoolwork saves your recently viewed activities across devices so you can easily assign these activities to students from any device. If you need to replace or repair your device, syncing your app activities allows you to continue to access your previously viewed activities from another device.
For some progress-reporting apps, you might need to walk through the content you want to include to see available Schoolwork activities. To do this, open and run the app on your iPad, then explore the content within the app. As you explore, the content becomes available as Schoolwork activities.
If Schoolwork can’t lock or post an assignment
, do one of the following:
If Schoolwork can’t lock an assignment, touch and hold the assignment, then tap Lock to try again or Unlock to cancel.
If Schoolwork can’t post an assignment, touch and hold the assignment, then tap Delete to delete the assignment.
If you know why an assignment isn’t posting (for example, an issue with an added activity), you can copy the assignment, post the new assignment, then go back and delete the original assignment.
If Allow Notifications is selected for Schoolwork (Go to Settings
> Notifications > Schoolwork, then tap Allow Notifications), Schoolwork sends you notifications when assignments are due, ready to review, or a student sent you a revision. Schoolwork sends students notifications when you post a new assignment, ask a student to try an activity again, and daily and weekly assignment summaries. Schoolwork also sends students notifications when an app activity is automatically marked done. If you or your students aren’t receiving notifications, confirm Allow Notifications is selected for Schoolwork. If you can’t tap Allow Notifications, the setting is controlled by your school and you must contact your school’s IT administrator.
Swipe down in the Schoolwork sidebar, Recent Activity, Drafts, Favorites, Imports, or class views to update content and display the latest status at the bottom of the sidebar.
If a student started an assigned file or link activity but you either don’t see any progress or see Not Started, confirm the student upgraded to iPadOS 14.5 or later.
