iPhone 18 Pro Taptic Engine (pSIM)
Before You Begin
Warning
Read Battery Safety and follow workspace and battery handling guidelines before you begin.
Remove the following parts before you begin:
Tools
Adjustable torque driver (10–34 Ncm)
Crosshead 44 mm half-moon bit
Crosshead 50 mm bit
ESD-safe tweezers
Nylon probe (black stick)
Super screw 44 mm half-moon bit
Torque driver (teal, 0.75 kgf cm)
Refer to a full list of tools required for all repairs.
Removal
Note: If you’ve already completed the removal steps, skip to reassembly.
Use a torque driver and the crosshead bit to remove 13 screws, 3 from the SIM assembly, 5 from the bottom speaker, and 5 from the Taptic Engine. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.
Note: The screw closest to the USB-C connector is located on the sidewall of the enclosure.
Remove the grounding spring from the Taptic Engine. Save the grounding spring for reassembly.
Important: Note the orientation of the grounding spring.
Tilt the SIM assembly to access the flex cable underneath.
Lift the end of the flex cable off the connector. Then lift the SIM assembly out of the enclosure.
Lift the bottom speaker out of the enclosure.
Caution: Don’t damage the grounding springs on the bottom speaker.
Gently fold back the USB-C connector flex cable 90 degrees to access the super screw underneath. Use a torque driver and super screw bit to remove one super screw from the Taptic Engine. Then complete the entire step before continuing to the next step.
Gently tilt the Taptic Engine to access the flex cable underneath.
Lift the end of the Taptic Engine flex cable off the connector. Then lift the Taptic Engine out of the enclosure.
Reassembly

Hold the Taptic Engine over the enclosure and press the end of the Taptic Engine flex cable to the connector. Then lower the Taptic Engine into position.
- Caution: While lowering the Taptic Engine into the enclosure, ensure that the Taptic Engine doesn’t get caught on the USB-C connector flex cable.
Set the torque value on the 10–34 Ncm adjustable torque driver to 14.5 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and super screw bit to install one new super screw (923-15863) (F5) into the Taptic Engine.
Gently fold down the USB-C connector flex cable. Position the grounding spring over the bottom two screw holes.
Set the torque value on the adjustable torque driver to 13 Ncm. Use the adjustable torque driver and crosshead bit to install two new crosshead screws into the Taptic Engine.
Important: Ensure that the grounding spring is positioned in the original orientation.

Use the teal torque driver and crosshead bit to install three new crosshead screws (923-15865) (J4, J5, J6) into the Taptic Engine.
