Store in the Apple TV app
The Store in the Apple TV app is your all-in-one destination to browse, buy, and rent the world's best movies and TV shows.
Once you find something you want to watch, you can purchase it, rent it (if it’s a movie), or choose how to watch it if it’s available on multiple channels and apps. If it’s available to start playing immediately, you’ll get the default channel or app that lets you watch it in the highest-quality version.
Note: Not all devices support on-device transactions, so you may not be able to buy, rent, or subscribe to shows or channels directly. However, you can sign in with your Apple ID to watch items you’ve already purchased, rented, or subscribed to on other devices.
Browse featured and recommended movies and TV shows
Open the sidebar in the Apple TV app on your smart TV, streaming device, or gaming console, then select Store.
Browse featured items, collections, and genres.
Recommendations appear based on your tastes or past viewing or purchase/rental history (If You Like Shrek 2, or If You Like The Daily Show, for example).
Select an item to see previews, ratings, descriptions, and viewing information.
Pick a movie or TV show to watch
When you select a movie or TV show, a new screen appears with ratings, descriptions, and viewing information, including all of the ways you can watch the movie or TV show in the Apple TV app.
In the Apple TV app , do any of the following:
Watch a free movie preview in full screen: If a preview is available, it automatically begins playing in the background. Press the up button on the smart TV or device remote to watch the preview in full screen.
Play the movie or TV show: If the movie or TV show is already available to you as a purchase or on an indicated channel, select Play to start watching it immediately.
Buy or rent a movie: Select Buy or Rent, then select the option you want and confirm your purchase or rental.
In some countries or regions, you can rent movies. You have 30 days to begin watching a rented movie. After you start watching it, you can play it as many times as you want within 48 hours. During the rental period, you can download the rented movie on one device at any given time and also stream it on another. For example, you can start watching a movie downloaded on your iPhone, then finish watching it later in the Apple TV app on your smart TV, streaming device, or gaming console. Once your time is up, the movie is no longer available.
Buy an episode or season: Select “Buy from [price],” then select the option you want and confirm your purchase.
Subscribe to an Apple TV channel: Select the subscription button, then follow the onscreen instructions.
Add an item to Up Next: If you want to watch the movie or TV show later, select Add to Up Next to add it to the Up Next row in Home.
The Add to Up Next button changes to In Up Next, indicating the item is added.
Remove an item from Up Next: Select In Up Next.
Go to the next item in the category you’re browsing: Navigate right or left. You can also press the back button on the smart TV or device remote to go back to the Store.
To get more information, navigate down to highlight a row or item, then do any of the following:
Watch additional trailers (movies only): Navigate left or right in the Additional Trailers row, then select a trailer.
Browse seasons and episodes (TV shows only): Select an episode, or select a season, then browse episodes. When you select an episode, you’ll be able to pick which channel or app you want to use.
Browse related items: Navigate left or right in the Related row, then select an item.

Get more information: Navigate to the bottom of the screen to see ratings, descriptions, and other information.

These videos might also feature high dynamic range (HDR) in HDR10 or Dolby Vision. For more information, see the Apple Support article Find and watch movies with 4K, HDR, or Dolby Vision.
