Motion Settings let you customize your workspace, tailor the interface for different types of projects, and define the presets for new projects and exported finished movies.
In Motion, choose Motion > Settings (or press Command-Comma).
Note: On Macs running macOS Monterey or earlier, Settings is listed as Preferences in the Motion menu. The recommended system requirement for Motion 5.8 is macOS Ventura 13.5.
Click a button at the top of the window to open a settings pane:
General settings affect what happens when you open Motion.
Appearance settings control visual elements of the Motion interface.
Project settings affect project and layer duration and other project options.
Time settings affect how time is displayed, as well as playback and keyframing.
Cache settings affect memory management and disk usage for projects.
Canvas settings customize your canvas view.
3D settings customize various aspects of working in the Motion 3D workspace.
Presets settings set a default project type to open whenever you create a new project.
Intro to Destinations settings create new share destinations and manage existing share destinations.
Press and hold the Option and Command keys while opening the Motion app.
In the dialog that appears, click Delete.
Motion opens, and settings are reset to the defaults.
