Intro to iTunes U
iTunes U provides everything an instructor needs to bring a classroom together. iTunes U is an iPad and web app for managed, affiliated, and unaffiliated instructors who want to create, edit, design, distribute, and teach all-digital courses. Using iTunes U you can build lessons with apps and your own materials, collect and grade assignments from students, start class discussions or talk with students to answer questions and provide feedback.
iTunes U also allows anyone with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to learn from a large catalog of free educational content. Millions of people across the globe visit iTunes U every day. iTunes U offers free lectures, videos, books, and other resources on thousands of subjects from Algebra to Zoology. This extraordinary content comes from leading schools, universities, museums, and cultural institutions.
Create courses using your own teaching materials
As an instructor you can create private and public in-session and self-paced courses and feature a broad range of audio, video, books, and other educational materials along with your course syllabus, handouts, and quizzes. You can upload materials from your computer or pull content and links from the Internet, the App Store, or the iTunes Store. Learn more.
Your students will be excited about your courses when they get their hands on iTunes U (available as a free download from the App Store), enroll in private courses or subscribe to public courses in the iTunes U catalog, and view courses in the library. Students can browse by title, author, or genre and when they find a course they want they can tap to see more information and review the course description and outline. Students can access your course and materials (for example, lectures, books, documents, apps, web links) through iTunes U on their iOS devices 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Students can enroll or subscribe to courses, download materials, play video or audio lectures, read books, view presentations, see a checklist of your assignments, and hand in homework for you to grade all in one place.
