Convert a selection to a mask in Pixelmator Pro on Mac
In Pixelmator Pro on Mac, select a layer in the Layers sidebar.
Make a selection in the canvas.
Choose Edit > Select and Mask.
The selection is converted to a mask. Areas hidden by the mask have a yellow overlay.
Use the controls in the Select and Mask pane, and brushes to refine the selection.
Click the output pop-up menu, then choose any of the following:
Mask: Adds the new mask to the selected layer.
New Layer with Mask: Duplicates the selected layer with the new mask.
Click Apply.
