Enter Japanese full-width or half-width numbers on Mac
After you set up and switch to a Japanese input source, you can choose to enter full-width or half-width numbers. Full-width numbers are spaced apart to align with kana or kanji characters.
Enter full-width numbers
To enter full-width numbers in an app while using the Full-width Romaji input mode, press the number keys on your keyboard. To enter full-width numbers while using the Hiragana or Katakana input mode, do one of the following, depending on the Japanese input source you’re using:
If you’re using the Japanese - Kana input source: Click the Input menu in the menu bar, choose Open Japanese - Kana Settings, click Japanese - Kana in the sidebar, then make sure “Full-width numeral characters” is selected. Press and hold the Option key, then press the number keys on your keyboard.
If you’re using the Japanese - Romaji input source: Click the Input menu in the menu bar, choose Open Japanese - Romaji Settings, click Japanese - Romaji in the sidebar, then make sure “Full-width numeral characters” is selected. Press the number keys on your keyboard.
Enter half-width numbers
To enter half-width numbers in an app while using the Romaji or Half-width Katakana input mode, press the number keys on your keyboard. To enter half-width numbers while using the Hiragana or Katakana input mode, do one of the following, depending on the Japanese input source you’re using:
If you’re using the Japanese - Kana input source: Click the Input menu in the menu bar, choose Open Japanese - Kana Settings, click Japanese - Kana in the sidebar, then make sure “Full-width numeral characters” is unselected. Press and hold the Option key, then press the number keys on your keyboard.
