Add a password hint on Mac
A password hint can help you remember the password for your account on this Mac. The hint appears if you enter the wrong password three consecutive times, or if you click the question mark in the password field in the login window.
Add or change your password hint
To add or change a password hint, change your password.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)Click
next to your user name, then click Change.Enter your existing password in the Old Password field, enter and verify a new password, then enter a password hint.
Click Change Password.
Add or change someone else’s password hint
An administrator may add a hint or reset the password of other users.
Note: If a user is logged in to this Mac now, you can’t select them.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu
Click
next to a user name, then click Reset.Enter and verify a new password for the user, enter a password hint, then click Reset Password.
