Safari browsing management declarative configuration for Apple devices
Use the Safari browsing configuration to provide management of the Safari browsing experience on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro devices that enrol in a device management service.
Safari extensions enhance and customise the browsing experience on iPhone, iPad and Mac. In iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 or visionOS 26, or later, organisations can customise the browsing experience for their users. With the com.apple.configuration.safari.bookmarks and com.apple.configuration.safari.settings configuration, organisations can:
Configure bookmarks for Safari so users can easily access organisation resources and websites. Bookmarks appear in a separate folder, and organisations can arrange individual bookmarks in subfolders to organise how they appear to the user.
Get more flexibility to customise the browsing experience by defining what users see when opening a new window or tab in Safari. For example, they might set the start page to the default Safari start page or a homepage that the organisation defines, or allow a Safari extension to define a page to open.
Configure additional Safari functions to meet their needs.
The browsing configuration supports the following:
Minimum supported operating system versions and channels: iOS 26, iPadOS 26, Shared iPad user, macOS 26 user, visionOS 26.
Requires supervision: See table below.
Supported enrolment methods: Device Enrolment (macOS), Automated Device Enrolment (iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS).
Key | Description | Supported operating systems Requires supervision? | |||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clear the browser history | iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS Yes | |||||||||
| Private browsing | iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS Yes | |||||||||
| Summarisation of content | iOS, iPadOS, macOS, visionOS Yes | |||||||||
| JavaScript execution | iOS, iPadOS Yes | |||||||||
| Prevent pop-ups | iOS, iPadOS Yes | |||||||||
| Cookie handling | iOS, iPadOS No | |||||||||
| Fraud warnings | iOS, iPadOS No | |||||||||
Note: Each device management service developer implements these settings differently. To learn how various Safari browser settings are applied to your devices and users, consult your developer’s device management service documentation.
