Type Cantonese using Cangjie - Cantonese on Mac
After you set up the Cangjie - Cantonese input source, you can enter Cantonese characters. Make sure you’re familiar with the Cangjie input code principles and the keyboard layout.
On your Mac, switch to the Cangjie - Cantonese input source.
In an app, do any of the following:
Enter Cangjie: Enter the Cangjie codes for the characters you want to use, then press the Space bar to insert each character in your document. If the candidate window appears, select a character in the window.
For example, to enter 蘋果公司, type “廿卜竹金” (tyhc), the Cangjie code for 蘋, then press the Space bar. Follow the same procedure to enter 果 (type “田木”, wd), 公 (type “金戈”, ci), and 司 (type “尸一口”, smr) in order.
Enter characters when you don’t know complete codes: Use the Z key, the Cangjie function key, in place of any unknown keys.
For example, if you aren’t sure of the second key for 蘋, you can enter “廿重竹金” (tzhc). Candidates that match the three known keys are shown in the candidate window. You can use the key multiple times in the same Cangjie code, as in “廿重竹重” (tzhz).
Enter English words: Enter an English word, then select the word in the candidate window. For example, type “ipad”, then select the word in the window. Proper nouns are automatically capitalized.
Show the keyboard layout: Click the Input menu in the menu bar, then choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
You may need to change settings, for example, to show predictive completions or to change the orientation of the candidate window.
